I’ve had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember.
Whether it was juggling six cameras on a Sunday at my grandparents’ house before church during the holidays, or in college capturing probates and social events, storytelling has always been at the heart of my work. Over time, photography became both a source of immense joy and, at times, deep heartache—especially when looking back on moments with loved ones who’ve passed. But the beauty lies in this: once the feelings shift or fade, the images remain. That permanence—those frozen fragments of time—has always felt deeply poetic to me.
Today, that storytelling extends beyond the camera lens. Through Black Guy Next Door, my focus is on building and preserving legacy in all its forms. Whether I’m capturing fleeting moments that carry generations of meaning, reimagining spaces through thoughtful renovations, or designing visuals that help people see their stories more clearly—every project I take on is rooted in honoring the past while building something that lasts.
After almost 20 years in this work, I’ve come to realize that legacy isn’t just about big milestones—it’s often found in the everyday moments, the small details, and the quiet decisions that shape how we live and remember. I’m proud to keep creating, capturing, and building—one project, one story, one space at a time.
